Benfica and Marseille joined forces on Sunday to appeal to the Portuguese and French authorities so that the Europa League matches can have fans in the stands.

"Sport Lisboa e Benfica and Olympique de Marseille appeal to the authorities of both countries to ensure that the UEFA Europa League quarter-final matches are played in the presence of fans of both clubs, both in the first leg, on Thursday, April 11, at Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, and in the second leg, on April 18, at the Orange Vélodrome.
Together with UEFA and the authorities, the two clubs are working closely to meet all the criteria and ensure the highest standards of organization in terms of security.

Football is a formidable vehicle for emotion and integration, which loses its meaning without the presence of fans, who are the reason for the sport.

SL Benfica and Olympique de Marseille are two clubs with a long history in European football who share immense mutual respect. They therefore launch this joint appeal so that all stakeholders can rise to this challenge."
