These positions were defended by Mariana Mortágua at the end of a conference against the far-right, entitled "No passaran!", at ISCTE, in Lisbon, where the president of the European Left, Walter Baier, Miguel Duarte, activist of civil rescues in the central Mediterranean, and the head of the Left Bloc's list in the European elections, Catarina Martins, also spoke.

According to the newspaper Expresso, the leader of the PSD/Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, speaking about post-electoral scenarios, "opened the door to an agreement with Chega" for the executive of the Autonomous Region, not following the line of the party's president, Luís Montenegro.

For Mariana Mortágua, "the no is no [of the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro] only lasts as long as it lasts - and this has just been proven by Miguel Albuquerque, saying that, after all, he makes agreements with Chega".

"Yesterday's red lines are now an invention of the left", she commented next, using irony.

After this observation, the coordinator of the Left Bloc rejected the ideological path followed by a current that opened a dissidence in the German party "Die Linke", which "incorporated the xenophobic nationalist discourse", considering this path "unacceptable". But Mariana Mortágua also criticized the theory of "the three fields" advocated by the spokesman of Livre, Rui Tavares,

"There will also be those who clamour for moderation, for an ideological and programmatic dilution that reduces everything to an anti-fascist identity that in fact lends itself to all ambiguities. In Portugal, this strategy has been called the theory of the three fields. It is wrong, because it ends up with the left endorsing right-wing governments and programs", she said, receiving a prolonged round of applause.

In her speech, the coordinator of the Left Bloc then defended a measure that has also been proposed by Livre: The four-day work week.

"With all the advances made in the economy, we could be seriously moving towards a four-day work week and freeing ourselves from coercion, from time colonized by obligations, from exhaustion. In other words, to get a little closer to freedom", she said.
