Rain returns at the end of the week. Temperatures have already started to drop

Portugal is going to suffer a sudden weather change in the next few days. The thermometers that were registering summer-like temperatures have already started to feel the effects and, in the next few days, they will drop even more. As for the sky, which today will remain with high clouds, it will become increasingly cloudy, until the rain arrives, at the end of the week.

For this Wednesday, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) predicts that temperatures will reach a maximum of 26ºC in Santarém, 24ºC in Lisbon, Setúbal, Évora, Beja and Faro, 23ºC in Leiria, 22ºC in Braga, Castelo Branco, Sines and Sagres, 21ºC in Porto and Aveiro and 20ºC in Vila Real and Portalegre. The remaining districts of mainland Portugal will register maximum temperatures below 20ºC, with Guarda being the coolest, with a maximum of 16ºC and a minimum of 4ºC.

In the Azores, temperatures will vary between 19ºC maximum and 14ºC minimum and the sky will be partly cloudy. In Madeira, temperatures will rise to 26ºC maximum and drop to only 17ºC minimum. The sky will be like in mainland Portugal, with high clouds.

On the day when the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution is commemorated, the sun will shine only in Madeira, where temperatures will reach 25ºC maximum and 16ºC minimum. In the Azores, the weather scenario is similar to the previous day. In mainland Portugal, the sky will become partly cloudy, with forecasts of rain for Aveiro and Braga, and, according to the IPMA, temperatures will drop considerably.

In Porto, temperatures will not exceed 17ºC, in Lisbon they will reach 20ºC. The hottest district will be Faro, with a maximum of 24ºC, and the coolest will be Guarda with 12ºC.

The end of the week arrives with rain. The only exceptions are the islands. In the Azores and Madeira the sky will be cloudy, with maximum temperatures around 20ºC.

In mainland Portugal, showers are expected for all districts, as well as lower temperatures. In Lisbon, the maximum is expected to be 17ºC and in Porto 16ºC. Guarda remains the coldest district with a maximum of 12ºC and Faro the warmest with 19ºC.
