A patrol of the Traffic Unit of the Republican National Guard (GNR) rescued a cat that was run over on the A2, near the Fogueteiro junction, in the early hours of Sunday.
According to IRA - Animal Intervention and Rescue, the GNR military personnel went to the Camarate Volunteer Firefighters barracks so that the animal could be "rescued and transported to a veterinary hospital" by an ambulance from the animal association.
The small "feral" feline was "seriously injured".
The IRA thus highlights "the dedication, altruism and professionalism of the GNR military personnel" who showed "sensitivity to the needs" of the cat.
