Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that the government wants "clarifications on the issue of the nationalization" of the Ariston Thermo Group and that it is working with Germany and the European Union authorities in Brussels, he explained on the X social network (formerly Twitter).
The reaction comes a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the temporary transfer of the branches of the Ariston Thermo Group and the German Bosch to the Russian Gazprom Domestic Systems, a state-owned company that produces household appliances.
Moscow did not explain the reasons for this decision.
Previously, Tajani, who is also deputy prime minister of Giorgia Meloni's government, had communicated on the same social network that he had had a conversation with the company's managers following this "unexpected" Russian initiative.
"The Italian government is on the side of companies and ready to protect them in all international markets," he said.
Ariston Thermo is a leading company in the thermal comfort and energy efficiency sector, directly present in 40 countries and, according to its own figures, with a turnover in 2023 of more than three billion euros.
