A Civil Guard officer died on Friday in San Agustín de Guadalix, a Spanish town 40 kilometers from Madrid, during a police operation. The man stepped on a floor in poor condition and fell several meters, according to Antena 3.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but nothing could be done to prevent his death.

The Civil Guard has already referred to the incident on social media, writing: "We regret the death in the line of duty of our colleague José Antonio who, during a police action in an industrial warehouse in an industrial park in San Agustín del Guadalix, fell several meters when one of the floors gave way".

Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the president of the Community of Madrid, has also reacted - through the social network X, formerly Twitter. "Rest in peace. All our gratitude for your noble work", she stressed.

In Portugal, the National Republican Guard (GNR) also made a point of joining the tribute, using Facebook to leave a message. "The GNR expresses its regret for the loss of a Civil Guard officer, who died in the line of duty in San Agustín de Guadalix (Madrid). To his family, friends and comrades, our deepest condolences", it wrote.
