Minister questions whether Congo and Rwanda are different and gets mocked
It happened on Wednesday night, on a BBC broadcast.

The UK policing minister Chris Philp has been mocked for asking if Rwanda and the Congo were different countries during a BBC broadcast.
The minister made the gaffe on Thursday night while being questioned about the government’s controversial deportation policy, the Rwanda Bill.
A member of the public was asking the minister whether he thought it was reasonable that members of her family from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) could be deported to Rwanda under the new scheme, which was approved earlier this week.
The member of the public tried to explain the volatile situation between the Congo and Rwanda and expressed her concern about the idea of Congolese people being sent to a hostile country.
But the minister appeared confused by her explanation and at one point asked if they were different countries – a question which was met with a mixture of gasps and laughter from the audience.

The Rwanda Bill is part of a plan by Sunak to stem the flow of migrants crossing the Channel in small boats to claim asylum in the UK.
Under the deal, migrants who arrive in the UK illegally or via small boats will be sent to Rwanda, where their asylum claims will be processed and, if successful, they will stay.
