Yes, you read that correctly. Taking micro-breaks throughout your day can have a really positive impact on your energy levels. "Breaking up your day with one to ten-minute breaks between work, tasks and general busyness can help to relieve stress and anxiety, as well as over-stimulation from the internet, social media and screen time," life coach Kamran Bedi is quoted as saying in Woman & Home.

You only need to take 10 minutes for these breaks, and you can always set an alarm on your phone to remind you. Not sure what to do with these short pockets of time? The experts have some healthy suggestions that don't involve caffeine.

For example, life coach Siân Winslade suggests you spend your time-out drinking water. "Keeping a bottle of water nearby not only aids concentration and reaction times, but can also improve memory and mood, and reduce headaches, fatigue and anxiety."

Zoe Thompson, another life coach, is quoted in the same article as saying that listening to classical music can help to boost energy levels and improve concentration, something that some studies have shown. "Music is a great way to anchor specific emotions," she adds.

You could also take time out to meditate. "Whether you choose a guided meditation or simply spend some time in a quiet room, meditation can help you to focus on the present moment and become more aware of your thoughts and feelings," she explains. Yoga teacher Danny Griffiths, meanwhile, unsurprisingly recommends yoga. "It's a great way to bring you into the present moment and help you to focus."

"Changing your environment provides greater stimulation for your brain and improves concentration, reduces stress hormones and boosts your mood," says Siân Winslade. That means getting outside, ideally for a walk.
