"Benfica will go to the market if it deems it necessary and if the market determines that there are favorable conditions. As for selling players, what I can say is that any club has to sell players, it's a reality and we cannot ignore it. To achieve results, clubs have to sell players. Portuguese clubs and also most foreign clubs. Talking about player A, B and C makes no sense at this time", said the manager.

This, on the day of the special session at Euronext Lisbon, where it was revealed that the SAD of the 'eagles' raised 50 million euros (ME) with the bond loan, with the demand exceeding the offer by 1.35 times, that is, close to 68 ME.

"We did not make this issue with the intention of going to the market", assured Luís Mendes, after being questioned by journalists, stressing that the Luz club has a "balanced situation in economic terms", which allows it to "face the next season with confidence".

Regarding the possible sale of a minority stake in the capital of SAD to foreign investors, the official said that all scenarios can happen, but that, for now, there is nothing concrete.

"Benfica is comfortable in financial terms and will not condition the structuring of the treasury and balance sheet to the entry of foreign investors. If something interesting comes up, we do not close the door, but we have nothing", he stressed.

Regarding the importance of the Champions League presence next season, Luís Mendes had a positive speech: "We believe that we will be in the Champions League, either by direct entry or via play-off".

Benfica, who today visit Farense, starting at 8:15 pm, in a game of the 30th round of the I League, are in the second position of the I League, with 70 points, 10 less than the leader Sporting, who won on Sunday Vitória de Guimarães (3-0), and eight more points than FC Porto and Sporting de Braga, who have also played in this round, with victories over Casa Pia and Vizela, respectively, both by 2-1.
