José Mourinho didn't fail to comment on the current situation of Paul Pogba, a player with whom he had a falling out at Manchester United and who is now suspended from world football for four and a half years for doping. In an interview with the English newspaper Telegraph, published on Monday, Mourinho said he didn't like to see the French midfielder punished, but didn't hide the problems he had with him.

"The only thing I can say is that this happens to almost everyone at certain times in their career: losing a bit of the sense of who you are and what you have to be. After France won the World Cup [2018], I think Paul came back different. The World Cup gave him a dimension where football wasn't the most important thing for him. Sharing the same philosophy as everyone else and everyone with the same level of responsibility," explained Mourinho, regretting the lack of support from the management.

"When you are supported by the power, by the hierarchy, the message that gets through is positive for the group. When you don't have that support, because the player is more important or what he represents is more important, then you are in a fragile situation. Even if you are a coach with a lot of experience, as was my case," stressed the Portuguese coach.

It is worth remembering that Mourinho was in charge of Manchester United for two and a half seasons, having won the English Super Cup, the English League Cup and the Europa League.
