Liverpool could reportedly be set to raid Sporting Lisbon, with Ruben Amorim continuing to be linked with the Reds as the frontrunner to replace Jurgen Klopp when he eventually leaves.

The Reds have also been credited with an interest in a number of Sporting players, including Goncalo Inacio and Marcus Edwards. It is a strategy that has left former England international Paul Robinson, who played for Tottenham, unconvinced.

"I think there is a huge risk in signing those players. There is also a risk in going to another club and trying to recreate exactly what you did somewhere else. And there is also the risk of going into Liverpool and trying to be like Klopp," he told Football Insider.

"If Amorim goes into Liverpool, it will be a great opportunity for him because it is not often that managers get jobs where things are going so well at a club. He could go into one of the best teams in history at a good time.

"We have seen managers before rely on players that they have worked with before, but look how that has worked out for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. He has brought players in from lesser leagues, like Antony, and the Portuguese league is a lesser league than the Premier League."
