Sousa Cintra said, this Wednesday, that he has no doubts that Sporting will be crowned champion, after having defeated Famalicão, by 0-1, and built a seven-point advantage over the second-placed team in the I Liga, Benfica.

In an interview given to Antena 1, the former president of the Alvalade club defended that, "for what it has done throughout the season", there is no doubt that the team led by Rúben Amorim will be a fair winner of the 2023/24 season, at a time when there are only five rounds left to play.

"The simplicity of our coach was fantastic, we play well, we play good football, beautiful, pleasant, without wars, without anything. I think it is a championship that Sporting deserves to win, on its own merit", he began by saying.

"Benfica fans themselves, Porto fans and fans of all clubs in Portugal recognise that Sporting is a fair winner of the championship. These rounds are still missing, but, so far, it has shown that", the former leader continued.

"I just hope that, until the end, it can go as best as possible, so that Sporting and the Sporting fans can finally celebrate the victory", he added.
