The french police announced, on Tuesday afternoon, that Benfica supporters are banned from attending the match at the Stade Velodrome, and its surroundings, during the match counting for the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Shortly after, Benfica regretted this position for "compromising the spirit of the competition". The club cancelled "the tickets already issued and purchased by Marseille supporters for Thursday's match", at Luz, and maintained "the sale of tickets for Thursday's match only and exclusively to Benfica members".

On Tuesday night, Marseille reacted, promising not to give up on having supporters in Lisbon.

Read the statement: "Olympique de Marseille took note of the information provided today by the Prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône and SL Benfica.

In connection with all the parties involved, namely UEFA, the club considers that a favourable outcome is still possible and continues, as it has been doing for several days, to do everything in its power in the interest of its supporters so that they can attend Thursday's match in Lisbon.

OM will continue its efforts until it wins the case for its supporters, whose behaviour has been exemplary this season in the European Champions Cup."
