AR opens doors for free visits with exhibitions, theater and music

The Assembly of the Republic and the House of Parliament -- Interpretive Center will be open to the public during the afternoon of April 25, to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the revolution, with a program that includes exhibitions, theater and music.

According to the "Open Doors Parliament" program, disclosed by the Assembly of the Republic, the São Bento Palace and the new interpretative center, located a few meters away, will be open for free visits between 3:30 pm and 7:00 pm on the 25th.

In the parliament, the stage of the country's main political debates, educational activities are planned, such as planting carnations or a poster workshop.

At 4:30 pm, there will be a performance by the Young Portuguese Orchestra in the interior garden, and the exhibition "Freedom is Ours --- Vieira da Silva" will be available for visiting, by the painter Maria Helena Vieira da Silva (1908-1992), "an artist with a strong civic conscience who intensely experienced April 25, 1974".

The program also includes theatrical animations, with "six travelers" who will circulate through the Palace and interact with the public, asking for recommendations and opinions about April 25.

In the Passos Manuel Library, citizens will be able to deposit their April memories in a small "memory box".

For the first time, the Parliament House - Interpretative Center, located in front of the parliament, which gathers information about parliamentary activity, will also be open to the public.

In this space, there will be the exhibition "PREC -- Parliament Revised in Caricature. The Parliament in the Press Caricature 1974-76", and there will be activities such as "story time: Wings of Freedom" or the creation of a collective mural drawing about freedom, intended for children over six years old.
