CDS "helps build Democracy". Two deputies? "Will be worth 50"
The CDS-PP president stressed today that the party "doesn't live off parliamentary firecrackers", after two years without representation in the Assembly of the Republic, anticipating that the two centrist deputies "will be worth 50".

"CDS does not live off parliamentary flashes in the pan. In fact, CDS did not disappear despite the fact that, at a certain point, for a short time, it was not in the Assembly of the Republic", defended Nuno Melo in his first speech at the 31st CDS-PP Congress, which is taking place today and Sunday, in Viseu, in which he began by taking stock of the last two years in which he led the party.
The centrist leader stressed that CDS "has always resisted", namely in six presidencies of Municipal Councils, "won in its own lists, not depending on anyone", but also in others in which it shares the executive with social democrats, giving the example of Porto with "the independent Rui Moreira".
"Two years ago, I promised you that my first symbolic, but political, act would be to screw on that wall of the Assembly of the Republic, our plaque that made the news when it came out. I screwed it on, it's there, and as far as it depends on us, it will never come out of there again. It is there in the place that rightfully belongs to it, it is there where, by working, we will make an effort to deserve it every day", he assured, at a time when he raised the congressmen present.
Melo defended that "the mother house of Democracy is essentially the house of CDS" and that the party "helps to build Democracy".
"It will be so again with Paulo Núncio and João Almeida, who are two [deputies] but, believe me, they will be worth 50, let no one doubt that", he stressed.
