The number of Portuguese hospitalized following a collision between two buses in Namibia fell to eleven on Thursday night.

The information was given to Notícias ao Minuto by the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, José Cesário, who reported that the hospitalized Portuguese have "various fractures".

According to the same official, in principle "none are in danger of life".

The number of hospitalized patients was 16 on Thursday morning.

It is recalled that the collision occurred about 400 kilometers from the capital, Windoek. It is believed that a brake failure in one of the vehicles was to blame, but the situation is being investigated.

The collision caused the death of two Portuguese, and the majority of the victims, 22 in total, were women in their 70s. José Cesário told Notícias ao Minuto that among the main complaints of the Portuguese involved in the accident were situations of "dislocated" body parts, including shoulders.

As a consequence of the collision, there was also a "third person who died", but they were not Portuguese.

The Portuguese tourists are from the Porto region and the travel agency through which they were traveling is from Leça da Palmeira.

On Wednesday, the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, assured that he is "following the situation of the compatriots injured in a road accident in the Namibian desert".
