Authorities participate in simulation of fishing boat sinking

The elements of the Viana do Castelo Harbor Master's Office, the local Maritime Police Command and the Viana do Castelo Lifeboat Station participated this Wednesday in a simulation of the sinking of a fishing vessel in the Lima River, in Viana do Castelo.
In a note published on the Facebook social network, the National Maritime Authority stated that "the sinking of a local fishing vessel, with three crew members on board, was simulated". Two of the crew members were rescued and transported to the marina, while a third victim remained missing.
For the search operations, the elements of the Viana do Castelo Local Maritime Police Command were mobilized, supported by a maritime rescue motorcycle, divers from the Viana do Castelo Firefighters and elements of the PSP, supported by a drone.
In total, 35 operatives were involved in the simulation, organized by the Viana do Castelo City Council. The objective of the initiative is "to guarantee an adequate mobilization of local resources and to exercise the planning and conduction of a joint operation in response to an occurrence".
