Man robbed and violently assaulted on the island of São Miguel
The suspect is only 22 years old. After passing the victim, whom he did not know, he put a bag over his head and attacked him. All to take money and a mobile phone.

A young man, 22, was detained in the city of Ponta Delgada, on the Azorean island of São Miguel, on suspicion of a violent robbery, revealed the Public Security Police (PSP), this Wednesday, in a statement sent to Notícias ao Minuto.
According to the officers, the PSP was called to the Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo, as a man had been admitted there with several head injuries, who had been the target of a violent robbery, during the early hours of the morning, in an area near the Sanctuary of Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres.
The PSP also states that the defendant, after crossing paths with the victim, with whom he had never had any contact, placed a plastic bag over his head, having hit him several times, both in the face and in other parts of the body, causing him a hemorrhage.
After the assault, which caused the victim to fall, as well as making him unable to defend himself, the suspect stole his money, mobile phone and other belongings.
The PSP quickly identified the suspect, who is associated with three other theft crimes, one of which was at a local lodging in Ponta Delgada, and detained him.
After being presented to a judge for the first judicial interrogation, the man, who had no criminal record, was released. The defendant now has to report daily to the police station closest to his residence and is required to undergo drug addiction treatment.
