A 35-year-old man was arrested on Friday, April 19, after an arrest warrant for a crime of violence after theft, which occurred in a commercial establishment in the downtown area of Lisbon.

According to a statement from the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police (PSP), the suspect allegedly broke into a store, located in the pombaline downtown "on March 31" in order to "commit a theft".

Inside, "he violently assaulted the store employee, thus consummating the theft of articles, with a total value of 105 euros".

The Public Security Police (PSP) also reveals that the individual repeatedly went to the location "with the intention of committing thefts", however, in the last attempt, he allegedly "increased the level of violence, brutally and untimely assaulting the store employee".

The suspect, who already had a criminal record, was identified and arrested outside the crime scene. After being presented to the judicial authority, he was subjected to the coercive measures of "periodic presentations" and "prohibition from frequenting the establishment" in question.
