Court workers schedule strike and demonstrations for the 24th

The Union of Judicial Employees (SFJ) announced a national strike and demonstrations for Wednesday, in the absence of any negotiation schedule or proposal to respond to the sector's demands at the meeting with the Minister of Justice last week.

"In all other areas, in meetings with other ministers, there was a schedule and only in our case there was absolutely nothing. Therefore, we will follow the recommendation of the President of the Republic and not let the cause fall", the president of the SFJ, António Marçal, told Lusa about the justification for the strike scheduled for the 24th.

The national strike will be joined by demonstrations on the same day at the door of the courts, between 08:30 and 11:00, in Porto and in Lisbon, in front of the Campus of Justice.

A demonstration by union delegates is already scheduled for May 7 in front of the Ministry of Justice, in Terreiro do Paço, in Lisbon, between 08:30 and 14:00.

"If there is no response from the Government, we will intensify the fight", guaranteed António Marçal, who had already stated, after leaving the meeting with the Minister of Justice, Rita Alarcão Júdice, last week, that the strikes in the courts "are here to stay", after a meeting without any result in the face of the unions' expectations.

"It seems that the Government has changed, but the attitude remains the same", criticized the president of the SFJ.
