Preventive for woman who killed partner in Olhão
A criminal examining magistrate in Faro today ordered the preventive detention of a woman who allegedly, under the influence of alcohol, fatally stabbed her husband last Friday, the Public Prosecutor's Office reported.

"The Public Prosecutor requested the defendant's preventive detention, which was granted by the Investigating Judge", according to a statement from the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Faro District.
This decision was made after the Public Prosecutor of the Olhão section of the Investigation and Criminal Action Department (DIAP) presented a 35-year-old woman to the Faro Criminal Investigation Court today, for her first judicial interrogation, who was indicted for committing a crime of qualified homicide of her partner, aged 50.
According to the Public Prosecutor's report, last Friday, in a house in Olhão, "the defendant bit her partner on the forehead" and then, at around 11:00 pm, after accusing him of having a lover, the suspect "armed herself with a knife and in an apparent state of intoxication stabbed her partner in the right pectoral region and in the left dorsal region, causing his death".
A police source told Lusa news agency on Saturday that, after the crime, which occurred last Friday, "the woman left the scene" and the next morning "turned herself in at the PSP police station" in the Algarve city.
After the assault, the victim was still assisted at the scene by emergency teams, but it was not possible to resuscitate him, and his death was declared on the spot by the doctor from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
The investigation into this case is being conducted by the southern directorate of the Judiciary Police.
