The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested six people (four men and two women) during the football match between Grupo Desportivo de Chaves and Grupo Desportivo Estoril Praia this Sunday. In a statement, the PSP explained that "at 5:26 pm, when the football match was still taking place, there was a situation of invasion of the sports show area, with the three teams still on the pitch". It was then that the police intervened and arrested the six citizens, aged between 30 and 60, for "suspicion of practicing the crime of invading the sports show area". A football player was also identified for "suspicion of practicing the crime of offense to physical integrity". The detained suspects were released and notified to appear on Monday, April 22, before the competent Judicial Authority. "After the resolution of the above-mentioned occurrence, after verifying the security conditions inside and outside the sports venue and these being guaranteed by the PSP, at 5:40 pm the game restarted, with no other criminal situation or alteration of public order until the end of the game", reads the police information note. The initial whistle of the match at the Estádio Municipal Engenheiro Manuel Branco Teixeira, in Chaves, took place at 3:30 pm, with the policing operation starting at 1:45 pm and ending at 8:10 pm. In addition to the arrests, "the PSP also recorded two situations of throwing objects, so it will proceed with the preparation of the respective reports and send them to the competent authorities".
