Following the closure of the Public Health Laboratory, announced by the Ministry, there are no longer conditions to continue analyzing drinking water samples.
The Government also accused Israel of preventing the entry of chlorine into Gaza or any other alternative to treat drinking water in the Gaza Strip, devastated by 204 days of relentless Israeli offensive that has already caused more than 34,300 deaths and destroyed several civil infrastructures.
"All citizens of the Gaza Strip drink unsafe water, putting their lives at risk," said the Ministry of Health.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned again on Friday that living conditions in Gaza "are deteriorating rapidly" and stressed that the "water shortage in Rafah," where about 1.2 million displaced people and 200,000 residents live, is increasing the risk of disease outbreaks.
In November, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human right to safe drinking water and sanitation, Pedro Arrojo-Agudo, called on Israel to stop using water as a weapon of war.
"Every hour that passes while Israel prevents the supply of drinking water to the Gaza Strip, in flagrant violation of international law, puts the inhabitants of Gaza at risk of dying of thirst and diseases related to the lack of drinking water," he said on November 17, about a month after the start of the war.
