Mother and daughter, aged 64 and 31 respectively, have been living for about three months at a table in the McDonald's restaurant in the Leblon area, in the south of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The attitude of the two women caught the attention of the residents, says G1.

According to the residents, both spend the day at the location, next to five suitcases, consume at the establishment and only leave at dawn, when the restaurant closes. Then, they sleep outside while waiting for it to open again.

The two revealed, in statements to TV Globo, that they are looking for an apartment, but do not understand the curiosity surrounding their story.

"I find it all ridiculous, I can't understand how this became this snowball," said the mother, who asked people not to interfere in their lives.

"If it were a dark-skinned person, with little clothing, with few bags, it would not have aroused curiosity," said the daughter in turn.

G1 reports that the two allegedly accumulate debt complaints and have even been convicted of racial insults. In addition, they have already been expelled from several hotels in Copacabana because they stopped paying for reservations and were evicted from a residence in Porto Alegre.

Last Monday, according to the Brazilian portal, the two refused an offer of shelter from social workers from the 'Leblon Presente' program.
