A 74-year-old woman has been arrested after robbing a bank in Hamilton, Ohio. According to CBS News, the woman, wearing a face mask and neutral-colored clothing, entered a bank on April 19 and "demanded money while displaying a gun." The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. local time, and the woman was apprehended at her home about 1.5 hours later, where she admitted to the crime. Police released photos of the woman entering the bank, from which she took $500. According to the police chief, the woman had been the victim of an online scam and owed thousands of dollars to family and friends. "She told me she stole a candy bar one time, but other than that she had never stolen anything. She said she didn't know why she did it, just out of desperation," the police chief told CBS News. The same officer said that the woman had recently talked to her sister about robbing a bank, but that her sister "didn't believe her." The woman has been charged with aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence and is being held on $100,000 bond.
