Melania Trump’s reemergence comes as her husband faces a criminal trial over hush-money payments to a porn star with whom he allegedly had an affair. The case against Donald Trump, the first former U.S. president to appear in criminal court, centers on $130,000 in payments that his company made to his then-personal lawyer, Michael Cohen. Cohen then paid the money to porn star Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels, to keep her quiet about an alleged sexual encounter with the billionaire a month before the 2016 presidential election.
