1- Hydration
“Proper hydration is the most important thing you can do to keep your vocal cords healthy,” says Marc Cashman.
2- Use a humidifier
“The voice likes moist air, so use a humidifier, especially during the winter months and in drier climates, to keep it from getting dry,” says Theresa Fowler Pittius.
3- Warm up
Theresa Fowler Pittius advises warming up to avoid straining your vocal cords and continuing to talk or sing. You should do this for 15 to 20 minutes before speaking in public, for example.
4- Cool down your voice
The coach explains that this is an important step for the voice to return to normal.
5- Take care of your sinuses
“Keep them clear. Use a nasal spray or a decongestant.”
6- Exercise your voice
There are several exercises you can do. Marc Cashman suggests one. “Bring your upper and lower teeth together gently and do a series of tongue twisters, forcing your lips to do the work.”
7- Exercise
“The better your physical condition, the greater your lung capacity and the more control you will have over your breathing.”
