"'Hello, girl!'. I don't even know why we used to call each other that, but that's how it was. At SIC, at first, and then every time we met, until now, in the hallways of this house". It was with these words that Pedro Benevides began a text in which he lamented the death of his friend and colleague Pedro Cruz, who succumbed to cancer.
On social media, the TVI anchor praised the work of the former deputy director of Information at SIC, who had more recently been a commentator on CNN.
"Pedro was a competitor I admired, then my deskmate, then my director and, often, a companion for conversations and confidences. It was a few days ago that we last crossed paths, 'girl' this way, 'girl' that way. And I thought - but didn't say - that he seemed better, that it couldn't be that serious. And today, the news came bluntly and with a bang and with few words, reminiscent of Pedro's texts. Goodbye, girl. May you rest in peace", the anchor concluded.

In another story, which shows a photograph of Pedro Cruz on the screen of the 'Jornal Nacional' studios, Pedro Cruz wrote: "If you ask me what was the most difficult news I ever gave, it was this one".
