Open competition for the construction of a composting plant in Cachão
The company Águas do Norte S.A published today in the Official Gazette the announcement of the public tender for the design and construction of a composting plant in Cachão, in the municipality of Mirandela, district of Bragança.

The base price is 1.47 million euros to carry out the project.
Contacted today by the Lusa agency, Águas do Norte explained, in a written note, that "the materialization of the Cachão composting plant project is part of the funds made available by the PRR - Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Mobilizing Agendas/Alliances for Reindustrialization and Business Innovation".
The public company added that its participation will be carried out as a partner of the consortium formed within the scope of the application submitted in 2022, "which aims to regulate the support to be granted within the scope of the 'Vine & Wine Portugal' project, submitted in the (...) phase II, namely in the subproject 'S_BFF - Smart BioFertilizer' ".
In the same note, Águas do Norte said it estimates that the project will be awarded during this year. The execution period is 238 days, in the construction phase, to which are added 182 days relating to the start-up phase, for a total of 420 days. The conclusion is scheduled for 2026.
According to the description provided by the company, the Cachão composting plant is a "sludge recovery unit from wastewater treatment, carried out through a composting process, using static long piles with mechanical turning (windrow".
This process works sequentially and integrates distinct areas, in order: reception of dehydrated sludge, preparation and incorporation of structuring material for the execution of the piles, active composting, tuning, post-maturation and storage and shipment of the final product (compost).
