These workers perform, "on a daily basis, tasks and jobs that are related to the arduous and unhealthy activity they carry out", justified to Lusa Nuno Almeida, leader of the Union of Workers of the Municipality of Lisbon (STML).
In addition, he added, "they are also called to work in areas where workers" receive the aforementioned subsidy. About "one hundred workers" are involved, who have claimed the right to also receive this supplement from CML. Recalling that the union made "several proposals" to the municipal executive, Nuno Almeida indicates that the negotiation process has been suspended since January. Questioned by Lusa, the Lisbon City Council only replied that it maintains "an open dialogue with the STML". In November of last year, the electricians gathered in Praça do Município to deliver to the president of CML a petition in which they demanded the allocation of the supplement. At that time, according to the union, Carlos Moedas (PSD) assumed the willingness to resolve the matter. In the last meeting with the municipal executive, on January 30, the vice-president of CML, Filipe Anacoreta Correia, asked the STML to legally justify the request, which the union did. "In the meantime, we and the workers have not received any response", said Nuno Almeida, explaining that this led to the decision to "go on strike". Read Also: Looking for a job?
