Rui Patrício is in the final stretch of his cycle at AS Roma, but even so, he continues to stand out in Italy. The experienced 36-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper lost his starting position to Svilar, ex-Benfica, but on Thursday night he forgot about any rivalry and was the first to console the young Serbian after the elimination in the Europa League against Bayer Leverkusen.

The gesture did not go unnoticed by the fans and was also duly reported in the Italian press.

"The Portuguese goalkeeper is proving to be a gentleman and a dressing room man. After Svilar's mistake that killed AS Roma's hopes, he was the first to encourage him and applaud him", we can read in the Corriere dello Sport, which continues.

"As soon as the game was over, with his young colleague heartbroken, Rui ran towards him, spoke in his ear, hugged him and accompanied him to the dressing room. He is at the end of his career, but he is also proving to be a special man. And everyone in Rome knows that", concluded the same Italian newspaper.

It should be noted that Rui Patrício lost his status at AS Roma since José Mourinho left and his contract ends at the end of the season, suggesting a departure.
