Desporto I Liga

Within the football landscape, the first part of the proverb "Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise" could quickly be replaced by "score early and win early," especially since that has precisely been Sporting's trend this season. Entering the last five match days, Rúben Amorim's team remains comfortably in the lead of the I League, with 77 points (seven more than rival Benfica), and the truth is that much of this success is due to good starts on the field. The data is clear for the first 30 minutes of each match of the Portuguese championship, since Sporting is the team that scores the most (25 goals) and concedes the least (only four). As for points, if the results were based on those first half hours, the Lions would be leaders with 57 points, leaving FC Porto (46), Vitória SC (46), and Benfica (44) far behind.
