The board of the organization that governs professional football competitions unanimously approved the aggravation of these sanctions, providing for the subtraction of between five and eight points, instead of the current penalty framework, which ranges from two to five points.

An official source from the LPFP confirmed that this is one of the proposals to amend the regulations that will be debated and voted on at the General Assembly scheduled for Tuesday, at 10:00 am, at the organization's headquarters in Porto.

Currently, article 74 of the Disciplinary Regulations (RD) of the LPFP determines "the penalty of subtraction of points to be set between a minimum of two and a maximum of five points", and that, in "case of recidivism, the minimum and maximum limits of the penalty provided for in the previous number are increased to double".

The verification of salary compliance is provided for in article 78 of the LPFP Competition Regulations, at four moments of the football season - September, December, March and May.

In cases of non-compliance, according to this document, "clubs that do not demonstrate the absence of debts under the terms of the previous numbers are notified by the executive board of the LPFP to do so within 15 days".

In December, Länk Vilaverdense, from the II Liga, was the only team participating in the professional competitions that did not comply with this obligation, and the case was referred to the Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), which sentenced the Minho club to the subtraction of one point.

The penalty was reduced because, later, the club proved that it had paid.

In September, in addition to Länk Vilaverdense, Boavista also needed an extra period to demonstrate the absence of debts in the months of May, June, July and August.
