Jurgen Klopp was left to rue Liverpool's "really bad" performance after they slumped to a 3-0 defeat at home to Atalanta in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final. Speaking at his post-match press conference at Anfield, the German admitted his side were well below par.
"It was a really bad game, oh my god. We started OK but we didn't carry on. We lost the plot completely before they scored the first goal. We were all over the place and nowhere. The midfield was completely out of order and I didn't recognise us out there. It was very strange," Klopp said, as quoted by The Guardian.
"We played really bad and deserved to lose. We have to take that. The boys know that exactly and now we have to prepare for Crystal Palace. That's how it is. Congratulations to Atalanta, they played really well," the Liverpool manager added.
The second leg in Italy is scheduled for 8pm next Thursday, April 18.
