Van Dijk picks toughest opponents and 'snubs'... Cristiano Ronaldo

Virgil van Dijk excluded Cristiano Ronaldo from the list of most difficult players he has faced throughout his career on Friday. In the podcast 'The Rest Is Football', the Liverpool captain pointed out several big names, but did not mention the Portuguese star with whom he has crossed paths on five occasions.
"Lionel Messi is definitely a very difficult opponent. I would say Erling Haaland, who is very strong and a modern striker. If you give him a little space, he will punish you. The same with Aguero, who has not scored many goals against us, but since the days of Southampton he has been very complete, with his right and left foot. We always have to be at our best," began Van Dijk, before including Olivier Giroud.
"He was a link player, at that time with [Eden] Hazard. It was always Hazard who gave him the touch and he held the ball. He also scored good goals against me. I always felt that he would not score, but he did," recalled the Liverpool captain.
