Microsoft shared its financial results for the first quarter of 2024, a period that was marked especially by the good results in the area of ‘cloud’ and Artificial Intelligence. However, not everything is ‘roses’ in the world of the Redmond-based tech company.
In the case of the Surface product line, with the revenue of this division having registered a 17% drop and, according to Microsoft’s CFO, Amy Hood, it is expected that the trend will continue also in the second quarter of 2024.
Even though the revenue of Xbox content and services had a 62% increase thanks to the acquisition of Activision Blizzard and its ‘franchises’, the revenue from Xbox consoles had a 31% drop this quarter.
Microsoft itself admits that this drop in revenue is related to “a lower volume of consoles sold”, with the decision to launch games previously exclusive to Xbox on rival consoles being a clear sign of the need to increase revenue in the video game division.
