European elections. Volt and RIR bet on party leaders to head the list
Volt Portugal and RIR today handed in their lists for the European elections of June 9 to the Constitutional Court, both betting on the leaders of the parties, Duarte Costa and Márcia Henriques, respectively, for this debut in the elections for the European Parliament.

In the case of Volt Portugal, the top candidate will be the party's co-president, Duarte Costa -- who was already a candidate for the Assembly of the Republic for the Europe constituency in the 2022 legislative elections - followed by Rhia Lopes, who has been working since 2019 as a parliamentary advisor in the European Parliament.
In third place on the list submitted today is Ana Carvalho, who leads the party with Duarte Costa.
Reagir Incluir Reciclar (RIR) is betting on the president Márcia Henriques, with Vitorino Silva, known as Tino de Rans, as number two, who has already led the party he founded and has been a presidential candidate.
Speaking to Lusa, Duarte Costa, from Volt Portugal, considered that "these elections are highly decisive", regretting that just over a month before the European elections "there is still no public debate on the Europe" that is wanted in Portugal "because the main parties still do not have programs" and have chosen candidates not for the project they have for Europe but for their visibility.
"Volt could be elected in these elections and will be elected in the elections if there is treatment by the press and the media that gives visibility proportional to the value of our work", he also said.
