Climáximo supporters handed out leaflets inside Lisbon metro carriages on Friday "to expose the violence of the climate crisis and call on people not to consent to the destruction of life, by acting in resistance".
According to a statement from the group, two people were stopped by the police, "who prevented them from continuing" with the action.
This took place at 6:30 pm, and until they were stopped by the police, Climáximo supporters say they had spoken "with dozens of people who were on the Lisbon metro's Blue Line, distributing more than 300 leaflets and travelling the line from Baixa-Chiado to Pontinha, for about two hours".
The statement also reveals that, even after receiving two warnings from metro employees, they continued and only stopped when they were prevented from continuing by two PSP officers.
The objective, according to the group, "was to expose the violence against human life caused by the climate crisis, talking to people about how we are going to stop consenting to this violence and stop the climate crisis".
"50 years after 25 April, we still do not live in freedom" says Matias Sousa, who took part in the protest.
