It is well known that 'April brings showers' and, this year, the popular saying was confirmed, with this week, the last of the month, closing with rain throughout the territory.

With maximum temperatures varying between 12ºC in the Guarda district and 23ºC in Funchal, Madeira archipelago, the rain also 'showed up' this Friday to close the week - promising to continue throughout the weekend, throughout the mainland.

But if the weekend is not going to be, like the previous one, inviting for a trip to the beach... the week will follow suit.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) made, this Friday, the forecasts for the week between May 29 and 5, Monday and Sunday, and it seems that, on the mainland, the weather "will be influenced by the approach of depression systems interspersed with the intensification of an anticyclonic ridge".

The experts say that Monday will be the 'calmest' day, since the weather will be "stable", but the following day, April 30, a "depression is expected to the north of the Iberian Peninsula that will condition the weather until May 2", Thursday.

"From the 3rd [Friday] the weather will be conditioned by the approach of a new depression to the Galicia area, with the South region under the influence of an anticyclonic ridge", reads the note.

Given the situation, "periods of rain or showers are expected throughout the mainland territory, from the 30th, with the approach and passage of a cold frontal surface associated with the depression that will approach on the 2nd to the north of the Iberian Peninsula". At the end of the week, the probability of precipitation is greater in the North and Central regions.

"The wind will be weak to moderate from the west, blowing from the north quadrant on the 29th and being more intense on this day", explain the experts in the note shared on Facebook, also giving some details about the temperature.

According to the IPMA, between Tuesday and Wednesday there will be a "small drop" in temperature, with minimums varying between 2ºC and 12ºC. On Wednesday, May 1, maximum temperatures will vary between 9ºC and 18ºC. "In the following days, a small and gradual increase in temperature values is expected, especially the maximum", reads the statement.
