"I am here to show my dissatisfaction with the fact that Portugal invited the President of the Republic of Angola, since João Lourenço is anti-democratic and a dictator, and yet he is invited to the celebration of democracy", the protester Finúria Silvano told Lusa, who together with about a dozen protesters chanted "Lourenço is a dictator". "In Angola we have no conditions at all, and the President comes here, parades, spends a fortune just on the trip, while there are people dying in hospitals due to lack of medicines, there is no education, there is no sanitation, we don't even have the basics", said the protester, considering that Portugal is legitimizing a dictator by inviting him to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of April 25, in a ceremony that takes place at the Centro Cultural de Belém, in Lisbon. João Lourenço, she concluded, "only won the elections by putting weapons on the streets, there are photos, we can't go out to demonstrate or we would die, in Angola if someone speaks the truth, they are killed, there is no democracy, there is no freedom of expression, televisions are bought and we have to do everything on our phones, fortunately there is internet, because if this [the conversation with Lusa] was in Angola, we couldn't talk, there would already be gunshots and someone would already be in prison". Among the various slogans that these protesters chanted, one could also hear: "We only want one payment from Portugal, which is for Portugal to stop supporting Angola and its atrocities", in an apparent response to the statements made by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on Wednesday. "We have to pay the costs. Are there actions that have not been punished and those responsible have not been arrested? Are there goods that have been looted and have not been returned? We will see how we can fix this", said the Portuguese President, quoted by the Reuters agency, on Tuesday, at a dinner with foreign correspondents in Portugal.
