The Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI) opened an investigation on Wednesday to look into the case of a man shot by a PSP agent in Lumiar, in Lisbon.
According to a statement from the MAI sent to newsrooms, the police operation, which involved members of the Public Security Police (PSP), occurred on Tuesday night, April 23.
The man was injured after being shot by a PSP agent, after showing a weapon.
It should be recalled that a source from the Lisbon Metropolitan PSP Command (Comtelis) explained to Lusa that the force had to fire shots after a vehicle fled after disobeying a stop order.
The two suspects who were in the vehicle showed that they were armed, the same source detailed, thus justifying the need for the two shots.
The investigation of the case is now in the hands of the Judicial Police.
