A 31-year-old Portuguese woman has reportedly been causing chaos in Phuket, Thailand, in recent weeks, prompting a local newspaper to issue a warning to hotels on April 21.

According to the Phuket Times, earlier this month the woman, who has been identified as Nadia, threatened a taxi driver with a knife after she had no money to pay her fare. She then walked around the public areas of her hotel topless (which is illegal in Thailand) and when she was eventually forced to check out, she had no money to pay her bill.

"Phuket Hotels Beware: This Farang Tourist. Nadia strikes again. Booked a hotel room, no money to pay. Walked around the hotel topless and asking everyone for money. Also asking for food, never pays. Phuket is fed up with her," reads the post, which was picked up by Asean Now, which also published a photo of the Portuguese woman wearing only a long skirt.

In addition to this image, the Phuket Times has also shared several photos of the inside of the woman’s rented room, which is described as "filthy". Clothes are strewn across the floor, empty plastic bottles and other rubbish are strewn around.

Local authorities are investigating the incidents, but so far Nadia, who police in Chalong say is suffering from a "mental illness", has not been arrested, which is causing consternation among the local population.

On social media, a Thai man named Kik Yossawadee revealed that Nadia’s family had tried to take her home to get treatment, but that she had always run away. Others have reported that she has stolen from them.
