"It is justice and the only way to guarantee peace and stability for a people who are suffering", Sánchez justified in the last campaign act of the Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSC), in the presence of the president of the Barcelona city council, Jaume Colloboni, and the number two for Barcelona, Alicia Romero.

Sánchez addressed the "political right", reminding them that Spain today voted in the United Nations General Assembly, along with more than 140 countries, for the full recognition of Palestine as a State.

The head of the Spanish Government lamented that the right-wing parties "insult everyone, even the young, those who demonstrate in universities", not only in Spain but also in Europe and around the world, in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Sánchez was alluding to the protests and occupations that are taking place this week in several Spanish universities in solidarity with the Palestinian people and for the end of the war in Gaza.

These movements are associated with a student protest that began on American campuses and spread to universities in several European cities, Canada, Mexico and Australia, to demand an end to the Israeli offensive in Gaza.

The invasion of the Gaza Strip was justified by the attack of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas against Israeli territory on 7 October, which caused about 1,200 deaths and two hundred hostages, according to the authorities in Tel Aviv.

The offensive launched by Israel has since caused almost 35,000 deaths, according to Hamas, which has governed the small Palestinian enclave since 2007.
