According to information released by the Agence France-Presse (AFP), the Rafah crossing point is, in theory, the only opening to the Gaza Strip that is not under direct Israeli control.
In practice, Israel maintains the right to supervise the entry and exit of goods and people, and it is through this point that the "trickle" of humanitarian aid destined for Gaza passes.
The conflict between Israel and Gaza began on October 7 after a coordinated attack by several Palestinian militant groups against Israeli cities and civilian settlements near the Gaza Strip, in southern Israel.
