German ambassador to China summoned after detention of alleged spies
The German ambassador to China announced today that she had been summoned by the Chinese authorities following the detention, this week, of four Germans suspected of spying for the secret services of this country.

In the advertisement, made on the social network X, the diplomat Patrícia Flor stated that it was "a gesture that says a lot, but that ultimately was a good opportunity to explain certain things".
According to the France-Press (AFP) agency, the ambassador also stressed that Germany does not tolerate espionage, regardless of which country is involved.
"We protect our democracy and our rule of law by constitutional means", also stated Patrícia Flor, quoted by AFP, adding that the Federal Public Ministry "is conducting the investigation and that "in the end, an independent court will decide on the accusation".
This week, four Germans, suspected of espionage for China, were arrested by order of the court.
Three of them worked in the area of scientific research and will have collected information on "innovative technologies that could be used for military purposes", according to the prosecution.
