According to a statement, the elements collected by the European Commission indicate that the Chinese medical device procurement market has gradually become more closed to European and foreign companies, as well as to products manufactured in the European Union (EU).

This is due to measures introduced by China that establish an unfair difference between local and foreign companies and between locally produced and imported medical devices.

The Community executive justifies the use of the ICPI by the fact that Beijing has never satisfactorily responded to the concerns expressed by the EU.
