"Our region was once again targeted by Ukrainian 'drone' attacks," the governor wrote on social media.
"As a result of the enemy [Ukrainian] attack, fires broke out," the governor added, without providing further details about the locations affected, which are about 400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
The attack did not cause any casualties, the same local Russian official added.
Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations has sent rescue teams to the scene.
Also today, another 'drone' attack targeted the special economic zone in the city of Lipetsk, also about 400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, but further south, which is home to a number of metallurgical and pharmaceutical companies, said the governor of the region, Igor Artamonov.
"The criminal regime in Kiev tried to attack the infrastructure of the Lipetsk industrial zone," Artamonov said. The governor did not record any casualties and assured that residential areas are not threatened.
In recent months, the Ukrainian army has intensified drone attacks on Russian territory, mainly targeting facilities linked to the energy sector.
