A 39-year-old woman has been left fuming after a man she met in a bar in Manchester, UK, guessed her age as 43 - four years older than she actually is.
According to the Metro, Joanne Dodd was so angry that when Carl Cooper tried to take refuge in the toilets, she followed him, pushed him, punched him and then threw a glass of wine in his face, which smashed.
Carl was left with a four-inch cut to his face which needed stitches - and it narrowly missed his eye.
The man decided to take her to court and at a hearing, Joanne's lawyers argued that she had 'low self-esteem' and had been drinking when the incident happened on September 9 last year.
The mum-of-one pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm and was said to be 'remorseful' about what she had done. She was handed a 12-month suspended sentence, ordered to do 180 hours of unpaid work and told to pay £800 compensation to her victim.
Sentencing, the judge said that while there was 'no excuse' for the attack, Joanne was a 'hard-working woman', a 'loving mother' and posed 'no risk to the public'. She had also shown remorse.
Carl, meanwhile, was advised to be more careful with his words in future. 'It may have been intended as a joke but it was a clumsy joke. Some jokes can be taken as an insult to other people,' he was told.
