One of the Palestinians "tried to stab soldiers who were in the area. The forces responded by opening fire and neutralizing him," the Israeli army said in a statement.
The second suspect "opened fire at the soldiers, who responded by shooting and neutralizing him," it added, according to the Spanish agency Europa Press.
No Israeli forces were injured in the incident, which occurred northwest of the city of Hebron.
The Palestinian Authority’s health ministry said the victims were aged 19 and 18.
More than 470 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers and settlers in the West Bank since the start of the Gaza war, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
The war between Israel and Hamas was triggered by an unprecedented attack by the Palestinian extremist group on Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, which left around 1,200 dead and 250 hostages.
Israel says the militants are still holding around 100 hostages and the remains of more than 30.
Since the attack, Israel has launched an offensive in Gaza that has left 34,079 dead, according to figures updated today by the Hamas-controlled health ministry.
The new toll includes 48 killed by Israeli strikes in the past 24 hours.
The war has also caused significant destruction of infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, a small enclave of 2.3 million inhabitants under Hamas control since 2007.
Hamas, which has the support of Iran, is on the list of terrorist organizations of Israel, the United States and the European Union.
