Should you be concerned when you grow hair on a mole?
A dermatologist reveals if there are any health risks. Know when to see a doctor.

Not all moles are created equal and sometimes one can appear more prominent than others. Being vigilant is always a good thing. When it comes to moles that have hair growing out of them, is it cause for concern?
"Generally speaking, a hair growing out of a normal-looking mole is not a sign of cancer," explains dermatologist Paul Curtiss to 'Well + Good'.

He says that if it's a uniform brown or black colour, round or oval in shape and smaller than a quarter of an inch, it's nothing to worry about.
The expert warns that you should keep an eye out for any changes in shape, colour or size. He also says that hairs can easily be plucked or trimmed without any problems. However, if you want to remove a raised mole, it's best to see a specialist.
